Board of Directors

HMC’s Board of Directors is elected by the President and Fellows of Harvard College and serve renewable four year terms. In selecting new directors, the board holds that its members should have the highest professional and personal ethics and values, consistent with HMC’s longstanding values and standards. Directors should have broad experience at the policy-making level in business, government, education, financial services, or public service. They should be committed to enhancing the value of Harvard University’s endowment and should have sufficient time to carry out their duties and to provide insight and practical wisdom based upon experience. Their service on the board of public companies should be limited to a number that permits them, given their individual circumstances, to perform responsibly all director duties. (Excerpted from the Corporate Governance Guidelines, Harvard Management Company, Inc., adopted June, 2007.)

HMC’s current Board of Directors is comprised of thirteen members with James F. Rothenberg serving as Chairman. The other members include: John Y. Campbell, Drew G. Faust, Jacob Goldfield, William W. Helman, Glenn H. Hutchins, Robert Kaplan, Martin L. Leibowitz, Jay O. Light, Jane Mendillo, Peter A. Nadosy, Hilda Ochoa-Brillembourg, and Dan Shore.
