HMC & Harvard University

Founded in 1974, Harvard Management Company, Inc. (HMC) is charged with responsibility for managing Harvard University’s endowment, pension assets, working capital, and non-cash gifts. HMC is a wholly-owned support organization of the President and Fellows of Harvard College.

Over the past ten years, endowment income has grown to support roughly one-third of Harvard’s annual operating budget. As such, HMC views its work as integrally linked to the work of Harvard’s faculty, students, and staff.
